When I was little I never made my own Valentines. They always came in the little boxes that were such and such cartoon characters at the time. Then I would always add a little box of candy or a sucker and write 20 or so names on all of them to pass out to my friends. I remember one year getting a cute Valentine homemade sucker from one of my friends. I thought it was so neat that she made them herself! Since then I realized the fun and importance of handmade. Did I remember any of those other cards that I got? Not really. It was the handmade Valentine that I will always remember. So as long as they can stand it…my girls and I will have fun making our own!
These “Cute as a Button” Valentines are well… so cute!
I think every little girl would get excited about these. Since it doubles as a hair pin it’s something that will last way past Valentine’s day!
I found the cute heart buttons at Hobby Lobby (of course) and then stuck them on some hair pins that had a base. Make sure to use a glue that will hold onto metal. I’ve seen one kind of glue that is actually called Jewelry metal glue that would work great for this. Then I made a little card that was cut with pinking sheers. Then I wrote “Cute as a Button, Valentine” , stuck the hair pin on and taped it to the back… easy!
Adorable! Are you making your Valentines this year?
