It’s a common southern tradition to offer Black Eyed Peas just after midnight on New Year’s Day. I really didn’t know much about this tradition until my adult-hood, but since it’s a fun tradition I thought we would make some this year! My favorite way of making Black Eyed Peas is Seasoned and Oven- Crispy… this makes them really crunchy and delicious! You may want to make two or three cans of these depending on how many people end up munching on them because they are addicting!
Start out by rinsing a can of the black eyed peas in running water and then draining them. Then place them on a towel to dry.
Once they are dry, toss them in the seasoning mix. Spread them out on a oil sprayed cookie sheet and then spray them once more with some oil (I use the Misto Sprayer)
Sorry… these are all mine. You will have to get your own! Also… don’t tell the kids, but they are super healthy too! Enjoy!

- ¼ tsp. seasoning salt
- ¼ tsp. garlic powder
- ¼ tsp. chili powder
- oil mister
- Preheat oven to 375 Spread black eyed peas onto a paper towel to dry off any excess water. Transfer to a medium mixing bowl and mix with all the seasonings. Enjoy!
