Stencil Transformation! ~Review and Giveaway for Cutting Edge Stencils~

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of picking out a stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils to review.  They have SO many great stencils it was hard picking out just one!!!  I narrowed it down to the many great “craft sized” stencils that they have and then picked my favorite:  Fleur Craft Stencil by Kathy Peterson.    I knew exactly what project I wanted to tackle…  Re-upholstering an old stool for my girls’ room.  I was so impressed with how it turned out that I made a matching pillow too!

Doesn’t the pillow look cute with the rest of the bedding?  It was so nice to be able to stencil whatever color and design that I wanted without having to search the store over thousands of fabrics!

To make your own painted fabric for up-holstering or making a pillowcase you will need:

Acrylic Paint

Light colored Fabric for painting (pick something a bit thicker to prevent bleeding though)

Stencil-  I highly suggest the Cutting Edge Stencils… the one I used is called Fleur Craft Stencil by Kathy Peterson

To stencil is so easy.  Just place the stencil on top of the fabric and get a stenciling type of brush.  Instead of “painting” it on… just dab it on so that you get a clean edge.  Also it helps to use a little painters tape to keep the stencil from moving as you paint.
Just keep repeating the pattern until you have the desired amount of fabric covered.  The stencil has easy guides to help you place the stencil also… which I found VERY helpful.  Once the fabric dries you can use it for all your fabric needs!

This stool was looking very used, but just a little spray paint, stenciled fabric, a plastic shower curtain (on top of the fabric for protection) and a few ruffles… now it looks better than ever!

The best part is that my girls love it and use it everyday!
