What is in your skincare and makeup products?

I wasn’t always aware of what I was putting on my face until about 7 years ago when I was pregnant with my first baby.  My doctor advised me to stop using my acne wash with salicylic acid because of concerns that it might harm the baby.  I began to realize that there was a lot more than salicylic acid to be concerned over with skincare/ beauty products.  I found a website called EWG’s Skin Deep that shows you every ingredient in most of the common skincare/ makeup products and the damage they have the potential to do in the long run.

I made a commitment from that point on to pay attention to what I was putting onto my skin and what I use to wash it with (as well as the whole family)!!!  I also have a mild form of Rosacea,  so I choose my skincare products wisely because the wrong chemicals can cause a flair up.

Recently, I noticed some strange ingredients in the foundation that I normally use.  I looked it up on skin deep and I was not too happy with what I found out!  So I went to Target to look for some more natural and organic beauty products.  While there, I noticed that Physician’s Formula has 100% natural bronzers and tinted moisterizer!  If you are not familiar with products claiming to be natural… 100% is very hard to find.  I knew that I had to try these out!

You can see the rest of my shopping trip on google plus!

I ended up getting some Burt’s Bees Deep Cleansing Cream Face Wash, Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer and  Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Bronzer.

Right after I left Target I had to run home, get the kids and take them over to a friend’s house.  I couldn’t wait to try out the products so I borrowed her bathroom to try them out!

The Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Tinted Moisturizer was very smooth.  It had a slight tint and looked  natural.  I was very impressed with how my face looked right after I put it on.  I wasn’t expecting much from just a tint.

Then I tried the Physician’s Formula Organic Wear Bronzer.  I have to be careful of what I put on my face.  I do have a mild form of Rosacea so anything with even a hint of red shows up as bright pink on me.  I love this bronzer!   It really looked natural for my face.

It was easy to put on, but next time I think I will use a bigger brush.  Want to see what happens when you put on powders?

I have cropped this pic to show the details.  Look at all those little particles flying through the air!!! I am glad that this is all natural and organic!!! I can rest assure that what I am breathing is okay to breathe!

Since I was feeling pretty good about my new makeup I let hubby take some pics of me outside.  I really like the way this one turned out.   I was feeling a little model-ish… but then…

I was faced with the fact that I live in OK!  It is crazy windy here!!!   :P

What are your favorite natural beauty supplies?  I want to know what you like to use!!!

  1. Ha! That’s cute! :) I can sooo relate…my attempts at being “modelish” the last couple of years have usually ended up just as humorous! :)

  2. Tks for the EWG website! I am trying to use more natural products too. I started when I was pregnant too! There are just too many unregulated chemicals in skin care and cosmetics that we should be more diligent about what we buy. Tks!

    • So true. I have been taking baby steps!!! I am glad that more and more companies are going organic!

  4. Some fantastic info, I’m pleased that I visited this.

  5. May I post part of this on my personal blog if I place a reference to this website?

  6. I’ve been browsing online more than three hours these days, yet I never found any fascinating article like yours. It is lovely value enough for me. Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made just right content as you probably did, the web can be a lot more helpful than ever before.

  7. Hi there, just became aware of your blog through Google, and found that it is truly informative. I’m gonna watch out for brussels. I’ll be grateful if you continue this in future. Lots of people will be benefited from your writing. Cheers!

  8. Hey there! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog.
Is it very hard to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m thinking about
making my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you
