Memories: Charlie Perfume by Revlon!!! #CBias

Perfumes and the scents they have can be very personal.  They have the ability evoke memories in a very strong way!  I had MANY favorite perfumes from my youth.

The perfume that I recently started thinking about again is Charlie Perfume.  Do you remember Charlie?   I had both the Red version and the White version.  I wore one or the other every single day.  Ahh… the memories! When I think of those two scents it takes me back to the 8th grade!

(circa 1993 or1994)
It reminds me of school hallways and tardy bells.  It brings up thoughts about my friends and our boy crushes (that didn’t know we existed).  It reminds me of trying out for show-choir and the knot in my stomach before I found out I had made it… then the rush when I found out I did!
It reminds me of Mary Janes, plaid skirts and the movie Clueless which coined the phrase “Like Whatever.” and “As If”  I was still young and I didn’t know much of the world yet… Those truly were “The Good Ole Days” for me.

I was feeling reminiscent and so we went to Walmart to see if they still had any Charlie.  They sure did! It wasn’t the exact one that I remembered wearing, but it was still Charlie!  I went ahead and got a bottle so I could share a little Charlie with my girls!  We got it home and smelled it together.  My older two girls are obsessed with perfume.  Every time we get ready to go somewhere they always ask me if they can use some of mine.  So they were super excited to try out Charlie!
After taking it out of the box we all gave it a good whiff.  To me it smells sweet with some floral and a bit of musk.  It was nothing like the Red or White version of my youth, but it was very familiar  My oldest daughter said “It smells like flowers” and my middle child said “It smells like Patty.”  Patty is a really close friend of the family and I have a feeling that this is exactly the perfume that she wears.  With it being so popular and one of the best selling perfumes of all time I wouldn’t doubt that!  So we all spritzed some on and I shared some of my favorite memories of putting on my Charlie perfume when I was younger.
It was so fun getting to share this memory of Charlie Perfume with my girls!   It’s amazing how scents can remind you of so many things… even ones that you wouldn’t remember otherwise.
What are some of your favorite scents from your youth?  What do those scents remind you of?

I found this commercial from 1983 on Youtube…  That is Sharon Stone and this totally cracked me up!
