This is #3 of the 5 ways to re-purpose your jeans! Last week I showed you how to make a cute “Jeans Bunting” and a pretty “Denim Apron”. Today I will show you how to make lovely flower jewelry from your old jeans.
Textural flowers and smooth pearls make this necklace beautiful and stately! These flowers could easily be used on headbands, bracelets, earrings, shoes and anywhere else you could use a flower accessory.
Jeans Jewelry
What you will need:
jeans
a few beads with large holes
3/8 inch satin ribbon
mod podge
hot glue
large needle for ribbon and beads.
wooden skewer
Directions:
First cut out a wide strip of denim from some jeans. Brush a layer of mod podge about an inch long on fabric. Take the skewer and start rolling the denim around it.
Put more Mod Podge on as you roll. Keep rolling until it is about 2 layers thick. Then cut off that edge.
Put another layer of Mod Podge on to seal the edge. Let dry for at least 30 minutes. After it is dry start cutting the tube into 1/4 inch pieces.
When you have all the pieces cut.. cut a small circle out of the denim. Place a glob of hot glue in the middle then place your bead inside. Next place the denim pieces around that to form a flower.
Once you have 3 flowers made glue it onto a piece of ribbon (large enough to be tied with a bow around your neck). I secured the flowers with a strip of denim on the back. Last string the beads onto the ribbon.
Now tie your pretty necklace around your neck! Looks so beautiful!
