Tutorial: Singed Flowers (Ranunculus Flower and Feather Fascinator)

I am excited to share this with you today! I am in love with feathers and flowers for clips.  I think the feathers look so elegant!  Here is a simple tutorial on how to make one just like this.  Be sure to enter the giveaway that I posted yesterday for your chance to win one of your own!  Now on with the tutorial…

Supplies:
Satin- like material (one that singes well like polyester)
feathers (I just got a bag of turkey plummage)
Rhinestones
flame of some sort- I used a candle.
clippie

First cut out 5 or so circles for the flower.  They don’t have to be perfect! Make some big and some smaller.

Next light the candle… you can see the pyro that I am here- I like to watch the flame get really close to my hand.

moving on…

Hold the pieces close (but not too close) to your flame.  It takes a bit of practice to get the right distance.

Singe all the pieces.

Once they are all singed start stacking them.
Once you have them stacked the way you like it glue them all together one by one.

Then place the rhinestones in the middle.

In the same way stack a few feathers together the way you like them and glue them on the back.

Finish it off with another piece of material over the feathers.  To this glue a pin or hair clippie.

Now you are finished and you will be totally addicted to making these!!!

Happy Creating!
