Tuesday Tutorial: Vintage Beanie Hat

Lace and feathers make this adorable beanie look like it was from an era gone by.  I made this using scraps I had around the house.  Here is the tutorial.
Materials used:
hot glue gun
old lightweight sweater(one you were going to throw away!)
beanie cap for pattern
sewing machine
satin material for flower
jewels or rhinestones
feathers
lace
 First grab that old sweater
Mine had this great edge to it… this will be the bottom of your cap.
take your cap for the pattern and trace around it… then cut it out about a half inch larger.

Now even out the edges and make another one exactly like this

Sew the two pieces together.

fold your cap with the new seams in the middle and sew right across the  top like this:

Your seams should look like this when turned over.

Next make a singed flower (full tutorial here)
 finished flower

Start gluing the feathers to a piece of scrap fabric.

Visualize where the feathers will go then glue them all down.

Then glue your flower down on top of the feathers

Use about 6 inches of lace.

Glue the lace around the outside of flower on top of feathers.

Next glue (or pin) it onto the beanie. You are now finished!

 Happy Creating!
